Cynthia Ann Crawford, born 20 February 1966, is an American actress, model and a TV star. In the 80s and 90s she was one of the most famous supermodels. She was also a ubiquitous presence on runways and magazine covers and fashion advertisements. Later, she got into acting and also started a business. The sophomore year of high school saw her get an inquiry from an apparel store in the local area regarding modeling. She later discovered that it was a prank phone call from two of her classmates. Crawford was among the high school girls recruited by a different store, and also held a fashion show. Roger Legel, a local photographer approached Crawford to take her picture. He was in charge of taking a picture of another college girl for DeKalb Nite Weekly. Crawford was chosen as the first cover. The photograph and the positive comments the magazine received helped encourage her to begin modeling. She began with an agency with a small size. Elite Model Management bought it shortly after she signed. At 17 years old she took part in Elite's Look of the Year contest and was able to make it to the finals at national level.
